Polish Cup „OYAMA TOP”

City of Jelenia Gora hosted a 15th Polish Cup for Juniors and Seniors in Oyama Karate. Tournament was organized by OYAMA Club of Jelenia Gora with Shihan Rafał Majda 5th  dan. Mister Marcin Zawiła President of Jelenia Gora and Hanshi Jan Dyduch- Chairman of  OYAMA Polish Karate Federation took patronage over the OYAMA TOP. The Cup gathered 360 participants from 43 different clubs including countries like Poland, Estonia and Canada and befriended organizations like Karate Kyokushin Tezuka Group and World Kanreikai Karate. Shihan Paweł Pajdak 5th dan (Sosnowiec) coordinated the tournament as a head referee.

Since the early hours the tournament started on three mats. The Younger Juniors 10-12 y.o.  and 12-14 y.o. started their fights in light contact. Children fully equipped in protection gear gathered in a number of 175 to compete. Next category - Older Juniors (14-18 y.o.) gathered 115 fighters. Seventy one fighters came to Jelenia Gora to fight in Knockdown system.

During the official opening, Hanshi Jan Dyduch handed the letter with acknowledgment  of Shihan Rafal Majda accomplishments in organizing the tournament. Sensei Andrzej Tomiałowicz (4th dan) received a plaque that commemorated his 30 years of  practicing karate. Furthermore Hanshi sincerely congratulated Sensei Andrzej and his wonderful group that represented OYAMA Karate in „ Poland’s got talent” TV Show. Sensei Denis Cordeiro (4th dan) – President of World Kanreikai Karate and Sensei Valeriy Savitskiy  (3rd dan) OYAMA IKF Country Representative in Estonia received occasional plaques.

Fights in prestigious Knockdown division were fast and tough. For the first time there was a separate senior division for fighters 18-23 y.o. Thank to that there were many new faces and well trained young fighters.

Best fighter award went to Anna Rutkowska (Warsaw) and Wiktor Czopek (Brzeszcze), Congratulations, OSU!

At the end of the tournament the organizers prepared a surprise for the spectators -  a Tameshiwari competition. This time the Tameshiwari Champion was Michal Popczynski (Jelenia Gora)

Hanshi Jan Dyduch handed beautiful trophies and financial awards for all winners of 1st place in Knockdown Senior Division.
